Glass milk bottle - half gallon - 64 oz.
This is a new, unused bottle with an indented hand grip. A rectangular bottle it measures 10" high, 5" by 4" wide (measurements are approximate). The bottle comes with your choice of cap - white, red or cream. The caps are bpa-free plastic and snap on and off the bottle. You will need to remove the tamper evident strip from the cap before your first use. The caps are airtight, but not leak proof, so don't lay the bottle down. The caps will last several months until they become loose and aren't as tight on the bottle anymore. Caps can be purchased separately.
You should hand wash the caps, but can dish wash the bottles.
Keep it cold, capped and out of the sun!
Important: To maintain the longest possible shelf life, keep milk that is in glass milk bottles cold, capped, and out of the sun.
In an article in TIME Magazine from June 19, 1944 this advice was given:
"Don't let milk stand in the sun." This advice was earnestly tendered recently by chemists of North Carolina State College.
Their findings: Bottled milk in the sun loses 40% of its vitamin 62 (riboflavin) in an hour, 72% in three hours. In the refrigerator or even in a dark room at room temperatures it loses none at all. Milk is the chief source of riboflavin in the U.S. diet."
